POST TAGSALE REPORT
Well folks, We got lucky.... the rain wore itself out friday, the sun came out saturday and the temps ended up being in the 60's... bit breezy, but that helped blow all the bad germs away, and that with proper distancing, and mask wearing the general mood from all was very positive. Overall I think we lucked out with a beautiful day and a welcome one for all the aquarium enthusiasts to get out and visit a bit.
As far as the vendors and purchasers... we had a great selection of different fish, plants and supplies from vendors as far away as Pennsylvania, and shoppers from North Carolina, not to mention most of central va and our friends from PVAS country.
I didn't get official counts but I know there were at least 18 vendors, and the entire lot was full, and some parked in the commuter lot next door. I think there were in excess of 100 people shopping today.
While this doesn't really capture the numbers that participated, the lot was FULL! this picture was taken later in the day.
I want to personally thank Linda and Tim for stepping up and helping with managing the JRAS table and parking.. Mike Dudley made sure those with disabilities had easy access parking also. Many thanks to our Host Rick Parsley from Logo Advantage, who without his parking lot, (and restroom, thanks rick) we may have had a tougher time finding a location. Everyone knows where Logo is so it worked out great...

I understand we sold 3 or 4 caps, a couple t-shirts, and 4 memberships.
from the casual surveys I took with most of our vendors, it sounds like everyone had a very good day, most releived their tanks of overstock and folks were able to stock up on new fish and plants at very good prices... The best thing is some of our vendors had fish our local fish stores are having problems getting right now because of the difficult shipping arrangements by suppliers.

With this first Tailgate Tagsale under our belt, I feel with much certainty, that if this pandemic lasts longer than anticipated, and we go well into next year still having to keep distant from each other, and group meetings in person are still a ways off, we might consider something like this for next spring, in lieu of an Auction.. I think we can adapt this concept to enable folks to sell and buy and maybe JRAS will look into ideas on how the club can benefit a little bit from this event.
Again, I want to thank everyone for participating, and being positive in holding such an Event.
Also, if you have thoughts on your experience today, ideas for future events, or just want to say HI and let us know what new fish or items you got today, please share your thoughts in this thread... We would love to hear about your new acquisitions...
