About Us

The James River Aquarium Society (JRAS) is a not-for-profit educational and social organization for freshwater and                              tropical fish enthusiasts in central Virginia.  JRAS was created in 2011 to give aquarists, with a wide range of                                           interests, backgrounds and skill levels, opportunities to meet, learn and share their experiences.

JRAS meetings are held monthly, typically every fourth wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at Logo Advantage, 8007A                                         Mechanicsville Turnpike, Mechanicsville, Va.  All are welcome to attend.  Most meetings feature a guest speaker,                                             open discussion and an auction for equipment, fish, and/or plants.   Refreshments are provided.

Visit our Calendar, or our forum to learn of meeting details, and our Join Us page to consider becoming a member.

Each fall we host an annual all day auction.  Hobbyists from accross Virginia, and nearby states sell and buy hundreds                        of items - fish, tanks, plants and aqautic supplies.  Many items are graciously donated by our generous sponsors.                               It is a great opportunity to get into the hobby and find a deal on that item you have been searching for, or find that rare                          fish you have never seen.
