    Amazon Sword Plants

    in Gallery

This is a 90 gal (48"L and 26" H) It is planted with common Amazon swords, bolbitis, ludwigia, java ferns, an anubias and a Frans Stroffels sword. These Amazon swords have grown very well and and 3 have become mother plants. As mother plants they send out shoots that develops plantlets with multiple leaves and roots. These shoots of new plants provide cover for the fish on the surface. This tank does not have CO2 and rarely gets fertilizer..

With the pandemic I have not found a good outlet for these plants.. I look forward to our parking lot swap scheduled for October so I can thin out and aquascape this tank.

I'll have some of the plantlets at the October swap. Also am considering selling the Sword on the front left of the picture. If you need some before the October swap email me.

Yes, I would love your Sword. Since I’m new to this group, I’m not sure I understand what the October swap entails and when and where? I’m selling our house in Md and moving my 125 gallon tank down to our home in Staunton on October 7th!

Normally we have a full day auction in the fall and a half day auction in the spring. In addition to this we have a mini auction after each of our monthly meetings. With the Covid19 restrictions we have not had any of these. We are looking to have a swap in later October in a parking lot. Members would list what they had for sale ahead of time. Members could commit ahead of time to buying items. Fish and plants would be bagged and brought to the parking lot. It would be set up like a tailgating event. You would go to the member with the fish plants or equipment you were buying and pickup your items. There may be the opportunity to buy other items if members brought additional bagged fish or plants. Masks would be required. Being in Staunton it would be a great opportunity for you to stock your tank.

It would be a " Feed Me Seymour" moment.. Might need to move out of the house.
